Harold K. "Kirby" Queen, age 52 of Sylva passed away at his home on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019.
He was a native of Cumberland County and resident of Jackson County. He was the son of Sue Dillard Barnes and the late Harold Jackson Queen. He was a long haul truck driver in his earlier years. More recently, he drove a truck for Cashier's Paving Company and then William Smith Paving Company. In addition to his father, he was also preceded by a daughter, Kari Elizabeth Queen in 2015 and a predeceased sister, Denise Queen Byars. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved his dogs; Pete Ab, Ceasar, Bubby and his cat, Doyle.
He is survived by his companion of many years, Angie Marie Queen of the home, his daughter, Tristen Queen of Sylva, his grandchildren, Mylah Sommer Rhinehart and Brenlen River RaAllen Rhinehart, his brother, Tim Queen (Tammy) of Charlotte, his two sisters, Carmen Long of Sylva and Mary Queen of Greensboro and two stepchildren, Kendell and Dillon Shuler of Sylva.
The family will celebrate Kirby's life with a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 from 1:00 - 3:00 at the chapel of Western Carolina Funeral and Cremation Service at 59 Cherry Street in Sylva. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 8195, Asheville, N.C., 28814.
